The central subsidy under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third kW, capped at Rs 78,000.

  • 2 kW: around Rs 1,20,000 before subsidy, about Rs 60,000 after
  • 3 kW: around Rs 1,80,000 before subsidy, about Rs 1,02,000 after
  • 5 kW: around Rs 2,75,000 before subsidy, about Rs 1,97,000 after
  • 10 kW: around Rs 5,50,000 before subsidy, about Rs 4,72,000 after

What you get back every month

Madhya Pradesh is one of the sunnier states in India. A well-installed system here generates about 4.4 units per kW per day. A 3 kW system therefore produces roughly 390 to 400 units a month. At typical MP residential tariffs, that is a saving of around Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,200 every month, which is why most 3 kW systems in MP pay for themselves in about three years. The panels keep producing for 25 years.
